Ricardo's (Los Cardones) First Trip to America 2005

ARTICULATE ABOUT OUR TRIP TO U.S.A.. ON APRIL/MAY OF 2005 IN THE OCCASION OF SHOW MOLOSSERSTOCK IN CHARLOTTE (CAROLINE OF THE NORTH).

Guest by the American Club of the Canary Dogo to judge the race in the MolosserStock the past Show in the city of Charlotte in Carolina of North on April 30th. I pleasure accepted the invitation made by the organization of this event.
In the trip I was accompanied by my wife Ana. We travelled from Tenerife to the city of Atlanta to find us with Lauren and Randy of D&G Kennels that were our hosts in the days that we remained in that country.
With Randy already we had had the pleasing satisfaction to know him personally in its trips the Island with Luis Ortiz, and the Lauren charmer we knew it for the first time our arrival to Atlanta. As much Randy as Luis had spoken to us wonderfully of her, but everything was little for describing it, because she is one of the most charming people, kind and affectionate who we have known..... they are our small American family.

The main idea was to make the work for which I was invited, but it became special and unforgettable vacations, in a familiar coexistence, where we have discovered the American life and its charming people.
All people with which we had the pleasure to share every moment have been affectionate, amiable and all the adjectives that emphasize their good disposition with us. Equally, less surprising it was not the country, since the concept that we had on the matter was ambiguous, and although we knew that he was all great one, a beautiful country, thus did not imagine it. I must recognize, to confess, that it loved that earth and its people to us.

As far as the canine world, Saturday 30 of April, in the morning the show of the races was carried out molosserStock, I began to judge the class puppies, but rain tried to spoil the event, and it was chosen to transfer to interior of the enclosure the continuation of the judgments.
There the class was finalized puppy where they emphasized some units with good projection. In this class it was valued plus the projection of the puppy as far as his expression like race, that their presentation show, leaving these had a free movement and that stops they outside a game form participating.
We followed with the class of young male, where no single the noticeable expression racial (tipicidad) was judged already, but also the movement show, presentation and character of the dogs. The male young were represented by two dogs, one of them excellent and very good other. Of the young females, I can say that they were excellent all of them. The female selected like first, it had a maturity superior to the rest, and this it was the reason for its classification.
Since the time improved and had to judge the adult class, it was impossible to use the internal enclosure, the amount of dogs and the importance that has this class for the race in relation to its standard, I chose to leave to the outside so that the public and the exhibitors could be more comfortable and to make one better valuation the judgments with the light of the day.
I began with the males where numerous Ring with a group appeared exemplary, who they presented a set that surpassed the awaited thing. At no moment I judged with an inferior scale to which it had used in Spain, reason why the dogs that obtained the qualification of very good, are really very good, and thus the 5 dogs which they obtained the qualification of excellent, are excellent.
I am sent to these two qualifications because they are the interesting ones for the reproduction and one better compression on the race and the standard. I found some dogs with a stature on the limit of height admitted in the standard, but with very good characteristics that are necessary for the race.
First excellent and the best one of race, is a dog that presents/displays a great amount of excellent characteristics. Its head is of a very standard structure, as well as its body, it carves and hair, and of a very typical colour in the race.
The excellent second, a young dog, that excelled by its expression of race, its bony and corporal structure, adding the particular characteristic of its horizontal length.
Third of the excellent ones, but of low average stature, but within the standard, it had a harmony that I liked pleasingly.
Fourth and fifth, I judge it to the same time in a set since they are two very similar dogs of characteristics, but one of them, the quarter, presented certain degree of maturity and character somewhat superior to fifth. Two magnificent dogs that will give much that to speak.
Individually it was commenting with the presenter each one of the judgments on his dogs, independently in the end, I commented in high voice the characteristics of each one of the dogs that obtained the qualification of excellent and order of the same one. We entered the adult females. As much as its number and quality its was something inferior to the males. Single they obtained excellent the 2 females. The rest obtained the very good and good qualification.
First the excellent one it corresponds to a female of very typical characteristics, needing a little more substance, perhaps, by the necessity to mature a little more, was very young.
The excellent second, was a female with good characteristics as far as young, since it presented a great temperament and a typical expression. It is a female of low average stature.
Once finalized all the judgments, I was come to choose the best dog of race than it fell to the excellent male first of the adult class.
Sunday were an exhibition of training and tests of character. There one demonstrated that the Dogo Canario is a guard dog who can work in civilian. I like much all the work made by the trainer and participants.

 

As much to the organization of the event, like a the exhibitors and supporters who were in the wonderful enclosure where carried out the show. I want to thank to them for the so affectionate and amiable welcome that we had my wife and I. It was a weekend where all we learned and we shared our knowledge in favour of the race and would emphasize I acclimate friendly and familiar which we could perceive. I want to make mention special and to thank to them to Alexis and Selina, Carla and her husband Steve, Noah and Leticia (my official translator) and to all the friends who we found and we left like Carlos and Sara, J. Jahmal and family there, among others.
